PureGym Partnership

We are pleased to announce that we have been in touch with PureGym - the largest chain of gyms in the country - and they have very generously offered to extend a year's free membership to all fellow Parkies and their carer.

If you’d like to sign up, here's a message from their Member Services team:

Our gyms are friendly, supportive, and judgement-free spaces where everybody can come in, work out and leave feeling good.

Research has shown that exercise can improve gait, balance, tremor, flexibility, grip strength and motor coordination. PureGym understands the importance of exercise for people with PD for both physical and mental health.

This is why we’re delighted to partner with Movers & Shakers offering 12-month memberships to people who have been diagnosed with PD and their carer.

Simply email member.services@puregym.com and we'll send you further communication detailing the information we require to set up your membership.

We know that some of you had difficulty signing up in the early days, but we're told it's now a very smooth process and in mid Feb we had news in from the CEO that so far over 150 people with Parkinson’s and 50 carers have taken up the offer.

If you’re one of them, do let us know how it’s going. You can e-mail us at feedback@moversandshakerspodcast.com

We're always banging on about the importance of exercise and to be honest it can't be underestimated. If it was a drug it would be prescribed to every single one of us. It's the only weapon in our arsenal that can be disease modifying, and if you’re not already exercising regularly then you probably should be.

Oh and just for the record, we are not advertising their services and in no way are we benefitting from this partnership, other than knowing that fellow PwPs and their carers can get a helpful service for free.
