The Voice Campaign
Parkinson’s Steals Voices. Together We Raise Them.
For many of us people with Parkinson's the deterioration of our voice is perhaps the most serious of all the many symptoms. When your friends and family find it hard to understand what you’re saying it is more than a irritation: it is an assault on our sense of self, our very identity.
Yet access to specialist speech and language therapy is uneven, underfunded, and too often unavailable. So we're launching a 12-month campaign aimed at increasing public awareness and pushing the government to act.

At the centre of this is you. We can’t do this alone.
The Search Party
Central to the campaign is a year-long celebration of the voice in all its forms. We may have literally LOST our voices -but we can find them again by raising them in protest, proclamation and performance.
That’s why we are calling it
“The Search Party”
We know there are many Parkinson’s choirs and karaoke groups and poets out there – And the aim is to put them all up on our social media pages to show people the power of our voices.
We’d love to see a lot of variety – bands from jazz, punk, samba to rock, quartets from barber shop to string, your rhymes from the daftest doggerel to serious sonnets, wild and whirling words from Shakespearian soliloquy to stand up. From solo performances to the largest group you can imagine. Fancy fancy dress? Be our guest! Your performance can be as silly or as serious as you like. The emphasis is on participation, creativity and joy, not perfection.

There will be events throughout the year, building towards a major moment. For at the end of it all — around the next World Parkinson’s Day — we hope to hold a large, live celebration: a concert that showcases what you have created. The best performances, the strongest voices, the most moving pieces — all brought together.
We invite everybody to take part; all are welcome to join in. And we’ve made it easy to do so. Find out how below

Parkinson's may steal voices — but together we can raise them.
Well done, we are delighted! If you've made it this far, we hope very much that you are going to join us at the Search Party.
We’re looking for videos or audio clips (with photos to go with them) to share with our audience the fantastic possibilities of people with Parkinson’s.
It couldn’t be easier to take part. Look at our step-by-step guide below to find out how to submit your entry
Step 1: First, are you eligible? If you’re part of the Parkinson's community, the answer is yes!
Step 2: Have you got a video or audio clip and photos to submit to us? It can really be of anything, whether that be a choir performance to some spoken word, but please aim for under
5 (ish) minutes long. Check out our FAQs for more ideas and for copyright information.
Step 3: Send it to us via our WeTransfer page. Here you can add the name of the performers, your name and email, and any extra information you might want to add.
